It is amazing how our worldview governs so much of our lives without even knowing it. For example, do you live with a worldview that revolves around a closed system or an open system? A closed system is one in which relies on man’s wisdom to address problems. An open system in this context relies on God who is able to make the impossible possible. If you are guided by a worldview, whether intentionally or unintentionally, that is closed you are more concerned with solving problems without God, than you are with God. There are plenty of stories in the Bible the reveal a God that is capable of making the impossible possible (The Exodus, Feeding of the five thousand, feeding of the four thousand to highlight a few). Do you care faith deep enough to ask for the impossible?
When I think of an open system I think of Matthew 6:25-30. Too often our hearts and minds are closed to the possibilities of God. We cannot imagine a way out, through, over, or under whatever we face, especially at a societal level. Although passages like Matthew 6 remind us of how much God cares for us we still struggle to remember. It is difficult to remember how faithful God is at times but WE MUST REMEMBER! Now, what happens if our unintentional closed system worldview prevents us serving another person, community, or society? What do we do? Do we pack up and leave? Or, Do we dig in and stay knowing and remembering that our God is bigger than any problem? The reality is often times we pack up and head out. There may be a time or place for that, but not until God releases you to leave.
