The concept behind a ripple has to do with cause and effect. The cause is a catalytic moment whether an event, action, look, comment, etc. The effect is simply the response to the cause. A ripple effect caused by a person will have one of three responses. One ripple may travel down a path that causes a positive response. The second response follows a path that invokes a negative outcome. The third and final response in one of indifference.
A life is filled with choices. Each choice has a cause and effect. In essence, each choice creates a ripple effect. This effect has the potential to have a life-long impact. This impact becomes a legacy. A person must at some point become aware of the impact they have on others. For those who are concerned about the impact they have on people, and the legacy they will leave, they must want to ask an introspective question. This question will uncover their true motive. The question is "What legacy will I leave behind?" This is a question that is not asked enough. This is also a question that has a variety of levels. It is a difficult question to want to ask and face, especially when faced with the past.
The title of this site, as well as the vision behind it is meant to speak of and create "A Kingdom Ripple." "A Kingdom Ripple" represents what is at the heart of myself and my family. Every person has a believe in something. People exercise faith everyday, whether in themselves, ideals, values, or religion. This site is not designed to show disrespect, but to share the truths of scripture. Unfortunately, Christianity is too often communicated with sinful judgement and disrespect, rather than with the love and respect of Christ. With that said, different opinions will always cause friction and be offensive in some way. This fact is to be understood. The goal is not to flagrantly exploit this fact. The goal is to create conversation and not come to fist-a-cuffs.
"A Kingdom Ripple" is a ripple that originates from God, and not a person. It is about a transcendent vision and not one driven by the "self." Proverbs 16:9 states, "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps." The context of this passage speaks of living a righteous life in the eyes of God. To do so will bring a Christ follower to his or her knees in humility (Pr. 16:5-6), To live in right standing is to deny oneself (Luke 9:23), to live in reconciliation with God (2 Cor. 5:16-18), and to love on and serve others like Christ does to us (Matt. 20:28; Phil. 2:1-10). "A Kingdom Ripple" begins with God and is carried on by a humble Christian. "A Kingdom Ripple" reveals the truth, love, hope, kindness, patience, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that originates only from God (Gal. 5:22-24). God is love (1 John 4:8). He desires all people to recognize, see, and experience His love (John 3:16). What is incredible is that God is able to reveal His love despite the sinful and selfish choices of those who proclaim Christ at times.
The challenge for any one Christian is to face their past honestly, and live in their "new self" (2 Cor. 5:16-17). To do so is to ask themselves "What legacy will I leave behind...in the name of Christ?" 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 reminds us that those who receive Christ and are reconciled with God will be Ambassador's of Christ and Ministers of Reconciliation. Reconciliation with God is the core of "A Kingdom Ripple." The impact and legacy of being reconciled with God is as deep as the deepest part of the sea and as long as the horizon in the sky. "A Kingdom Ripple" will bring healing, purpose, belonging, and transformation. "A Kingdom Ripple" creates and fosters a life long transformational process that will be challenging, but full of overwhelming blessing.
The greatest call to "A Kingdom Ripple" is the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:16-20. Whether you are a Christ follower or not you will make a choice, start a ripple, and leave a legacy. For those who have received Christ the legacy we are called to leave is one of Christ and the Kingdom of God no matter what circumstance we face or position in life we find ourselves. The death of Christ was not just for you, and neither is your faith!
